Court Restrains PDP From Suspending Amaechi

A high court in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, has stopped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from taking further actions against the state governor, Rotimi Amaechi, pending the hearing of a substantive suit challenging his suspension from the party.
Justice Emmanuel Ogbuji handed down the order following a preliminary application brought before the court by Governor Amaechi’s lawyers, led by Akin Olujimi (SAN).
The court also directed the court to maintain the status quo in the matter until the substantive suit brought by the governor has been heard.
It also told the PDP to appear before it next Thursday.
Ogbuji also directed Amaechi to serve the PDP the necessary court processes by pasting them on the walls of the party’s secretariat in Abuja and through newspaper publications.
Olujimi said the court had directed him to put the party on notice before the adjourned date, being next Thursday.
