A high court in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, has stopped
the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from taking further actions against the
state governor, Rotimi Amaechi, pending the hearing of a substantive suit
challenging his suspension from the party.
Justice Emmanuel Ogbuji handed down
the order following a preliminary application brought before the court by
Governor Amaechi’s lawyers, led by Akin Olujimi (SAN).
The court also directed the court to
maintain the status quo in the matter until the substantive suit brought by the
governor has been heard.

Ogbuji also directed Amaechi to serve
the PDP the necessary court processes by pasting them on the walls of the
party’s secretariat in Abuja and through newspaper publications.
Olujimi said the court had directed
him to put the party on notice before the adjourned date, being next Thursday.
