Three Engineering
students of University of Uyo who took part in a peaceful demonstration to the
office of the Vice Chancellor were shot dead today.
The Engineering students
of University of Uyo embarked on the peaceful demonstration to the office of
the Vice Chancellor to protest the sudden changes made by the V.C concerning
their transportation from Uniuyo Main Campus to the new Permanent Site.
The Vice Chancellor decided that students
who want to board the school bus from Main camp to Permanent site for lectures
had to pay daily.
As a result the Engineering students of the
university lead a peaceful demonstration to the V.C's Office to lay their
complaints about the sudden change.
On
arrival the security officials at the V.C's office tried to prevent the
students from gaining access to the Vice Chancellor, the students therefore
retaliated by throwing stones at the security officials.
This infuriated the security officials who
decided to call for a back-up from the police
On arrival the police fired live bullets at
the students and killed three innocent students.
This led the students to set the office
of the V.C on fire and also destroyed other school properties.
CKN Nigeria reporter said many students
have fled the school. All effort to speak to the University authorities was unsuccessful.
Our phone call to the spokesman of the
Police command in Akwa Ibom State was also unsuccessful

ReplyDeleteHmm! Only in Nigeria will Police practice their shooting skills on d masses n no one is punished for it.
ReplyDeleteWhat is the meaning of an innocent person?
ReplyDeleteIt is a pity. May their gentle souls rest in peace. Amen.rE
ReplyDeletePolice in Akwa Ibom are now very good hunters who practise thy games on d poor masses.
ReplyDeleteMay they rot in hill
ReplyDeleteNo body knows wat d students are trying to do fo those police officers when its comes to riot student can do anything and also make use of d opportunity to show there weaked side. So d issue of innocent student is not not an issue let's try to know wat really happened na somebody born police officer too. ABILITY Oscotech esa oke 08

ReplyDeleteIn a case were students take the law into their hands and shoot at police men, what do you expect? Tell me? Sad indeed that those students had to die so untimely and unexpected! But for how long will students continue to suffer??? Things are hard in Uyo and good gals are embracing prostitution as only means of survival yet Uniuyo are making matters worst! Haba dan Allah!

ReplyDeleteStudents were using stones on security personnel and not bullets. In returns the police who were call to protect life and properties decided to use live bullets not even rubber bullet nor teargas. Is a pity any way.
ReplyDeleteAluta Continua justa costa victoria arcerta. Very soon uniuyo will understand this meaning. RIP The 3 Young Courageous Men.
ReplyDeleteUseless 9ja police, all of u ar very heartless if nt for bad goverment we have in 9ja,u guys surpose to rot in jell, fools
ReplyDeleteWhat has happend is unfortunate! We, Uniuyo students, ought to have learnt from what happend in Unical. We neva thought twice about d consequences of d protest. We forget that cultism stil exist in uniuyo, on a high scale. That protest was hijackd by cultists. Now, what was d esence of d protest? Why ws d protest taken outside d skool compound? We gave d police an xpress excuse to shoot, bcos they had to stop escalation of d violence into d city. D VC went to Abuja for an official duty, n she has an incomplete blame for this, bcos she dosnt mek decisions alone.
ReplyDeleteWe ought to have rememberd d nigerian environment, that protest dosnt work well - itz usualy hijackd by touts n cultists! This gives our police d chance to dsplay their inhumanities. Let students stop protests; go for appeal/dialogue insted. Any time protest is done in our universities, it will alwys be hijackd by cultists n touts, den we see d bad side of our police. In d end, we are d ones sufferin d pains n inconveniences.
THREE COURAGOUS MEN 9JA STUDENT U'LL ALWAYS STAND REMEMBERED .......KINGSLEY UDOETTE.....MAY UR SOUL REST IN PEACE
ReplyDeleteU aint serious.. Wat r u saying, okay fyn its bad dey went outside buh y didn't d police officers use teargas instead.D police will av 2 face d consequences cos D̶̲̥̅̊ε̲̣̣̣̥γ̲̣̣̥ r @ fault.
ReplyDeleteIf u say God shuld punish policemen n their family,do u know wat ur parents are doing in secret?we shuld knw that in every 12 there must b a Judah.not all policemen are evil or wicked n there're other people who're mo' wicked than policemen.May d dead RIP,God knows why it happend dat way.
ReplyDelete@Great Nigerian Student, How much were you paid for this blackmail?, I am a product of Uniuyo and I know u are a liar from d pit of hell. Why are you taking sides with d police, we are talking about 3 lifes, d life of a single innocent student is better than d life of 100 police officers. never heard cultists are protesting peacefully.
ReplyDeleteFor you idiot who are supporting this vagabond N20 collectors I pray dat sooner or later you will fall a victim for them and you will quote this useless law of yours in de grave for them.Na ur fada and moda be cultist. After we've lost so many of our blood to the Boko men, u still had the guts to pull a trigger on a bloody civilian student of Akwa abasi Ibom state. If I have my way na students for sentence all of u to ur fada. 'LUCIFER'
