Report reaching CKN Nigeria has it that workers of
Nigeria’s foremost Newspaper,THISDAY have barricaded the premises of the Newspaper’s
premises over six months unpaid salaries..CKN Nigeria reporter at the spot of
the protest at the company’s headquarters on creek road Apapa has it that
Thisday Newspaper staff have been living from hands to months in the past one
year due to unpaid salaries while its Chairman /Publisher Nduka Obiagbena is
junketing across the globe in private jet.
Things got to a head way this morning when majority of
the workers couldn’t stomach the maltreatment any longer and decided to take
their destiny in their own hands.
CKN Nigeria can exclusively report that the Publisher
have refused to see the protesting workers while asking their leaders to see
him at his residence to resolve the issue.
The leader of the protest,one Tony said,the Newspaper
will not be allowed to open until all salaries due the workers are paid.They
have also demanded an increased salary for the workers. Thisday Newspaper is
notorious for owing workers several months salaries despite the millions of
Naira it makes from adverts and sales.
It remains one of the top three newspapers in Nigeria

The publisher is greedy and insensitive. He was even quoted once as telling journalists to use their news to get money from the people they write news on instead of him paying their salaries. Imagine !
