The
National Sports Federation Electoral Committee (NSFEC) wishes to announce that
the elections for the positions of President and Vice President in the Boards
of Sports Federations will hold on Tuesday, April 14, 2013.
The
elections will take place at the National Stadium, Abuja, starting from 10 a.m.
According
to a press rlease signed by the Secretary of NSFEC,Julius Ogunro,all elected
members of the various Federations from the zones and nominated stakeholders
into the boards are to participate in the elections. All nominated stakeholders
are to check the official website of the National Sports Commission (sportscommission.gov.ng)
for their names.
Participants
in the elections are required to show proof of identification in the form of a
valid international passport, driver’s license or national identity card. This
would enable electoral officials do proper screening of would-be participants.
The
NSFEC wishes however to state that elections for the positions of President and
Vice president in the Board of the Nigerian Boxing Federation have been
postponed. The NBF’s statute, which is a requirement, is not ready. A
draft has been submitted to the International Boxing Association (AIBA) but has
not been approved.
The
NSFEC assures all stakeholders that it has put in place systems to ensure free,
fair and transparent elections.
