Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State
on Tuesday returned to the country after a 10-day medical trip to the
United Kingdom.
Briefing journalists, Okorocha said
he was healthy and sound, and also noted that the medical examination
conducted by his doctor abroad certified him fit to resume work.
“I am back and am healthy and I’m
grateful to God Almighty,” he said.
The Imo State governor recalled his
involvement in an auto crash while on project inspection at Owerri-Orlu Road,
which left him with a minor injury at the forehead.
He further revealed that the injury
cut was earlier treated in a hospital at Orlu, but considering the fact
that the cut was at the forehead, necessitated the need for a thorough
re-examination in a specialist hospital.
Okorocha said he had forgiven
the man whose car ran into the convoy, stating that he would not be tried in
law court.
He announced a gift of N200,000 to
repair his Mercedes 200 that was damaged by the accident.
He urged road users to drive carefully and avoid driving when drunk, saying, “What happened to him could happen to any other person.”

The governor commended the Deputy
Governor and other members of the Executive Council for running the affairs of
the state and further thanked Imo people who prayed for his quick recovery.
Earlier, the man who drove into the
governor’s convoy, Mr. Osita Nnewuihe, thanked God for the safe return of the
governor.
