Nasarawa Killing Police Informant Beaten To A Coma By Police

The police corporal, arrested and beaten last Friday by a team of detectives after he was suspected to have allegedly tipped off the cultists’ murder of over 100 policemen and other security operatives in Alakyo in Nasarawa State, is still in coma. A team of detectives had last Friday led two corporals of Eggon origin they arrested over suspicion that they leaked the operation.
The principal suspect, simply identified as Corporal Enugu, was driven to Government House, Lafia unconscious, and had bruises all over his body including his head. He and his associate, Corporal Haruna Joseph, were paraded.
Police sources said the corporal was still unconscious by yesterday, although a team of doctors are said to be attending to him.
State commissioner of police Abayomi Akeremale, who led the suspects to Government House, for parading them before Governor Umaru Al-Makura, said Corporal Enugu was arrested after a team of detectives monitored his behaviours since the day of the ill-fated operation.
He said Corporal Enugu who drove one of the patrol vans with registration number NPF 6997 C, was one of the men who returned alive from the operation.
“A team of detectives monitored him carefully. They first stumbled on charms in his vehicle (official vehicle). Then, they followed up and stormed in on him at his residence. But before our men got there, the information had already reached there. But my men were fast to get him, and a second policeman in his house”, the police commissioner said.
He displayed three AK47 rifles, a sack of charms of various brands, alongside Corporal Enugu and Corporal Haruna Joseph. The police commissioner also took the governor to the front of the police van and pointed at a red sticker with an image of a machine gun with a chain of bullets, by the registration number.
“Our investigation has shown that this sticker was put so that his members can notice him and separate him and spare him. This is just the beginning. It is like the beginning of a river, which is usually small; it will lead us to track down all members of the sect”, he said.
Widows of the slain officers were still in Government House for protest, when the two suspected cops were taken there. They expressed shock with the quantum of assorted charms they saw.

  3. Don't know how our detectives work in this country, why do they need to beat them to coma when perpatriators are not yet brought to book. How do you want to get fact when capital punishment is being used. Do they really want them to talk or covering something.

  4. Can the Police explain why so many operatives were drafted to go and demolish just a shrine or were they going there to raze down the village as part of the Hausa/Fulani conspiracy to make Nigeria ungovernable as was earlier stated by some well known politicians.
