Crime Fighters-The Police And You, Nigeria’s premiere
and leading television programme on security, is organizing a special lecture
programme for students in Lagos to mark children’s day on Monday 27th
May, 2013 at the Civic Centre Victoria Island by 12 Noon.
According to Chief
(Mrs.) Aisha Tosan Agberebi EXECUTIVE PRODUCER – CRIME FIGHTERS-THE
POLICE AND YOU,the
Theme of the lecture is Security Awareness Among Children and key note address is to be delivered by the
Executive Governor of Lagos State, His Excellency Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola
(SAN).
The objective of the programme is to promote security
awareness among children and to address the growing trend of criminal acts
across the world, where young people are
radicalized and manipulated into committing acts of terror. The overriding goal is to educate our
children on security and crime and prevent them from being brainwashed or
mislead into criminal activities.
Guest speakers and lecturers at the event includes
Commissioner of Police – Lagos State, Mr. Umar Manko, Mr. Kerry L. Brooks, Special Agent – United
States of America Embassy in Nigeria, Professor Omololu Soyombo, Dean Faculty
of Social Sciences University of Lagos, Dr. (Mrs.) Gloria Egbuji (Expert on victimology), Representative of
the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, and Mr. David Adegboye, Banker
and Motivational Speaker.
The speakers will address subjects such as the General
Trend of Crime in Nigeria, Social Media, Cyber Crime, Psychology of crime,
impact of crime on victims and survival tips for young people.
This event is an attempt to help combat the rising wave
of crime in the country, particularly terrorism, kidnapping and other forms of
violent crime. The objective is to
capture the hearts and minds of our young people and steer them away from the
path of criminality and self-destruction.
This is in consonance with the mission and vision of Crime
Fighters-The Police And You, a television programme that has remained committed
to promoting security consciousness around the country in the last 13 years.
Students are expected from both private and public
schools in Lagos.
