"My Oga At The Top" Finally Leaves Lagos

Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps, NSCDC, has finally replaced Mr. Obafaiye Shem, the man who postulated the “my oga at the top” mantra, as commandant of Lagos State Command. He was replaced by Mr. Adesuyi Clement from Oyo State Command.
The Commandant General of NSCDC, Dr. Olu Abolurin, who was in Lagos at the weekend over the alleged killing of two of his officers by some policemen, introduced the new Commandant to journalists.
But Abolurin did not give reasons for Obafaye’s removal . Sources however hinted that the development might not be unconnected with his recent interview on Channels Television live programme.
Before now, authorities of NSCDC have denied taking any disciplinary action against Mr. Shem over the said interview. Their reaction followed claims that Shem had been sacked on the orders of the Minister of Interior, who supervises the NSCDC.
Shem’s travail started when he appeared on Channels Television morning programme ‘Sunrise’ and when asked the NSCDC website he said: “Hmmm, the website is, excuse me, my Oga at the top knows the website”. He again, cleared his throat and said: “My Oga at the top is working on the website and I don’t have them”.
When the presenters insisted that he should give a functioning website address of the para-military outfit, he dropped the bombshell: “ww.nscdc, that’s all”.
Immediately, the interview went viral and has become so popular to the extent that t-shirts with “my oga at the top” insignia has been produced and selling like hot cake across the country, even as some DJs and musicians have done what they called a remix of the phrase.
Some Nollywood actors and actresses had even produced and launched a movie titled, " My oga at the top."

  6. Pls leave the man alone, nobody is above mistakes. I dnt no why nigerians are not proud of their local languages, you'r all crazy of foreign tongues or language. Can you invite any oyinbo to channels or silverbird then start interviewing the foreigner in yoruba, ibo or hausa. Go to asia especially the country that has the fastest growing economy in the world china to be precise value chinese than any foreign language and today the country economy is competing greatly with the best economy(america) in the world today. Today how many yorubas, ibos and hausa can speak anyone mentioned above fluently. To hell with english language.

    2. Ur IQs are unbelieveably low. Whoever talked about his use of English?
Fact remains that the man does not know his onus considering his office period.
And for those who make excuses for him that he's not the onlyone, well sorry,he got caught and we cannot condone.

  7. Dr Olu would have not taken such action on Mr Shem's blunder, besides is he (Dr Olu) impeccable or infallible. Go to campuses and hear the apex of grammatical flaws from lecturers and university dons.
