The Presidency was yesterday silent over a report that Nigeria awarded a $40million (N6.2 billion) internet monitoring contract to an Israeli security firm, Elbit Systems Ltd.
Elbit Systems Ltd announced in its website yesterday that “it was awarded an approximately $40 million contract to supply a country in Africa with the Wise Intelligence Technology (WiT[TM]) System for Intelligence Analysis and Cyber Defense.”
When our correspondent called the Senior Special Assistant to President Goodluck Jonathan, Dr Doyin Okupe to seek his reaction to the report, he said he would get back to him after he studies the report. But Okupe didn’t get back and didn’t pick repeated calls put through his mobile phone later.
