The
immediate past Oyo State Commissioner for Trade, Investment and Cooperatives, Mr
Kazeem Adedeji and his wife, Biodun, were on Thursday arrested in Ibadan
by men of the Special Anti-Fraud Unit, Lagos.
They were picked up at
Enterprise Bank, Agodi, Ibadan, where the wife works.
A
source close to the couple said the former commissioner was at the bank earlier
in the day to visit his wife but that he later received a distress call from
her shortly after he left there.
“Honourable
had to make a detour to know what was really the matter. On getting to the
scene, the police team told him they were sent to Ibadan to effect the arrest
of the two of them,” the source said.
It
was learnt that the bank manager tried in vain to resist the arrest, saying the
bank’s leadership needed to be informed of the planned arrest.
But the police had their way and took the couple to the Iyaganku police station before they were taken to Lagos around 1.30pm.

When
contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Oyo State Command, Mrs
Olabisi Ilobanafor, said she was not aware of the incident.
Adedeji
was a governorship aspirant under the platform of the Action Congress of Nigeri
(ACN) preparatory to the 2011 election in the state.
He
was appointed commissioner by Governor Abiola Ajimobi and lost his position in
a cabinet reshuffle towards the end of last year.
