There
was apprehension in Enugu yesterday over the possibility that Governor Sullivan
Chime may have travelled again to Europe as a result of his health challenges.
An Enugu Government House source told our correspondent that
Chime went to Abuja but was not sure if he had left the country. Attempts to
reach the governor’s media aides proved abortive as they all refused to react
to the question sent through text messages or pick their calls.
The Special Assistant to the governor on Media, Afam Okereke,
promised to call back to answer the question but he did not before press time.
But responding to the question, a commissioner, Joe Mmamel, wondered if Chime
was prohibited from travelling out of the country.
Mmamel disclosed that the governor presided over the State
Executive Council meeting this week.
Chime had admitted that he had nose cancer and stayed four and a
half months in London for treatment. during an interaction with journalists
after he returned to the country last month, the governor frowned at the
speculations about his health status, saying that anybody could fall sick.
