Police Arrest "Abia University Lady " Video Rapists

The Abia State Government thursday praised the police for a thorough investigation that unmasked the true identities of the hoodlums involved in the gang rape of a woman, which they recorded and posted on the video on social media purporting that the heinous crime took place at Abia State University Uturu (ABSU).
The Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to the governor, Mr. Ugochukwu Emezue, who spoke to journalists in reaction to the police special crime report published in the March 11 in the 24th edition of The Dawn, the police in-house newspaper, where it was established that both rapists and their victim hail from Obite town in Etche Local Government Area of Rivers State.
“Now that the police have come out with their investigations, those who were insisting that the rape incident took place in Abia have been put to shame. It has proved our position that the rape allegation was the handiwork of our detractors who wanted to rubbish the image of the state and its university,” he said.
The incident, which appeared on social media in September 2011 had provoked pubic outcry, including from the National Assembly and media commentaries, who poured derision on the institution well as the state government. Even with strong denials from ABSU authorities, state government and the state police command the aspersions persisted.
He said while the state government and ABSU authorities condemned the rape incident and the perpetrators of the inhuman act, it was wrong for people to have concluded that it took place in Abia state without investigating the matter, just to cast the image of Abia in bad light.
According to the police crime report, detectives from Rivers State C.I.D had on September 7, 2012 traced the husband of the victim to Obite town, while working on intelligent report.
It said the man, who was simply as Mr. S in the police report, was “initially reluctant but later obliged detectives with the true story behind the rape” hence it was possible for the police to crack the nut.
“He confirmed that the victim was actually his wife and that all the perpetrators of the act were from the same community as himself,” the report said.
The detectives were said to have “painstakingly traced the identity of the suspects leading to the arrest of Uchenna Ukulor, Chizoba Nwosu and Nwazuo Nmezi, while the fourth suspect is still at large.
The police said that after the victim and her husband were invited to the State C.I.D and the video clip was played in the presence of the suspects “it was glaringly established that the three suspects along with the one other still at large, carried out the most heinous act of rape and went ahead to place it on the social media.”
“It is pertinent to point out that both the victim and the suspects are not students of Abia State University as earlier portrayed,” the police said in their report, adding that the suspects have already been charged at Magistrate Court 9, Port Harcourt “for acts of conspiracy and rape”.

  1. Our country is still working. The Police did a nice job. I wonder why the husband refused to report the matter. The pictures of those men should be published on every newspaper they tried to tanish the image of our state ABIA. We should reform our constitution, so that anybody found guilty of rape should be castrated and sent to jail.
