Security was beefed up today in Ikenne-Remo, Ogun, as President Goodluck Jonathan visited late Obafemi Awolowo’a residence.
The President was at the residence of the late sage to
commiserate with the family over the death Chief Oluwole Awolowo.
Awolowo, 70, the publisher of the Nigerian Tribune, died on
March 27 at a London hospital.
There was heavy security around the Awolowo residence and roads
leading to the residence.
Men of the Nigerian army, the Nigerian police force and the
Nigerian Civil Defence Corps were located at strategic places.
Cars coming in and out of the town were subjected to thorough
searching.
