The kidnap of the member representing Onitsha South I
constituency in Anambra State, Hon. Emeka Aniegbonam, on Tuesday, has
heightened tension in the state, with fear gripping all the lawmakers in the state.
Hon.
Aniegbonam, a medical doctor and Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) member was
abducted in his private clinic in Fegge, Onitsha, Monday night, by three
unknown gunmen.
The
Nation gathered that he was whisked to an unknown destination by his captors
who are said to be demanding the sum of 50 million naira before releasing him.
As
a result some of the lawmakers in the state had switched off their handsets,
while those who spoke with The Nation on Wednesday refused to talk on the
matter.
One
of the lawmakers told our correspondent that he had no capacity to talk on the
matter as all the standing committees of the state House of Assembly were
dissolved on Tuesday.
