Lawyer Drags FG To ICC Over Bodies Found In River

While Nigerians celebrate the just concluded AFCON cup as African Champions, a Nigerian-US based lawyer Ephraim Emeka Ugwuonye, Esq of ECULAW GROUP, 310 Watkins Pond Blvd Rockville, MD 20850, United States of America has petitioned the Nigerian government and her security forces to International Criminal Court for Crimes Against Humanity in Connection with the Extra-Judicial Executions Of Members Of An Organization Known As Movement For Actualization Of The Sovereign State Of Biafra (MASSOB).

In the petition which the ICC Clark presented a copy of it to WEST-AFRICAN ECHO, the Complainant claimed that the Perpetrators of mass killings are as follows;
(a) Inspector General of Police, Nigerian Police Force
(b) The Director General of the Nigerian State Security Service
(c) The Commissioner of Police for Anambra State, Nigeria, Bala Nassarawa.
(d) The Police Commander in Charge of Nigerian Police Unit Known as Special Anti-armed Robbery Squad (SARS) for Anambra State.
(e) The Police Public Relations Officer for Anambra, Mr. Emeka Chukwuemeka.
(f) Any other person or official criminally responsible for the crimes alleged in this Complaint.

The undersigned Lawyer who is a member in good standing of the Bar of the Supreme Court of Nigeria and licensed to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States said in his petition that the Criminally Responsible Persons and the government who killed the over 100 persons must be brought to justice.

Meanwhile, there’s already panic within the Nigerian security forces over the petition. When our correspondent putted a call to the Nigerian Police head office over the petition and the dead bodies issue, they insist not to comment until their final investigation over the found dead bodies. Asked if they are aware of the petition, they hung the phone.

Ephraim Emeka Ugwuonye, Esq who practices law in Maryland, United States, and in Nigeria, will be representing as the Counsel to the persons whose bodies were dumped in the Ezu River. According to him in one of the paragraphs in the petition, he said, “By the very nature of the incident, the crimes involved and the position of the perpetrators and the complicity of the Government, it is not practicable to seek redress for the victims and their families within the Nigerian domestic courts, hence I will be representing as the Attorney for the victims whose bodies floated on Ezu River, Anambra State, Nigeria”.
