Bayero, who had arrived the Malam
Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA) around 7 pm Wednesday aboard the
Nigerian Air Force plane, was received amid cheers from the crowds.
The crowd defied the presence of a
tight security cordon at the airport and made its way into the premises to
welcome the emir.
Bayero, who had a brief stay at
presidential wing of the airport to felicitate with traditional title holders
who had came to pay him homage, was driven to the palace in a convoy. He looked
healthy and strong.
He
was welcomed on arrival by state government officials led by Brigadier General
Bello Danbazau (rtd), who is the Special Adviser to Kano State Governor,
Special Duties.
Among the people who came to welcome the emir included businessmen, non indigenes, students and the disabled.

It was also celebration galore on the
streets of Kano as soon as news filtered in that the emir had arrived the
state, with the people trouping to the place to catch a glimpse of the
traditional ruler.
Our correspondent observed that most
of the roads through which the emir's convoy passed were affected by traffic
gridlock due to the multitude of people who had come out to celebrate his
return.
