Ganiyu Ishola, raised the alarm during an interactive session with the House Committee on Diaspora headed by Abike Erewa-Dabiri in Abuja.
Ishola who was docked for 21 years said many Nigerians are in Egyptian jail over various offences even as he warned innocent Nigerians to be wary of human traffickers who often present beautiful propositions to would-be travelers to lure them out of the country.
While also stressing the need for Nigerians in Diaspora to shun all forms of crimes, he urged Federal Government to combat human trafficking, which often lands many of the victims in prison abroad after their facilitators may have abandoned them.
“The human traffickers end up spoiling the lives of Nigerian youths under the guise of better living conditions abroad." Ishola Laments
while reacting, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, chairperson, House committee on Diaspora urged Nigerians to jettison traffickers parading themselves as facilitators of foreign jobs.
Dabiri-Erewa also warned parents and guardians of the danger of conceding to the seemingly juicy promises of greener pastures to their wards and children in foreign lands.
The lawmaker also charged Nigerians in Diaspora to live within the laws of any country them may find themselves adding that any one that fouls against the laws of their resident country will pay the penalty for such crimes.
