Miss Institutes Initiates Pet Projects

Miss Institutes Beauty Pageant (MIBP) an initiative of Abbey Tnney Media & Entertainments Concepts (initiators) and Fanafillit Integrated Concepts (project developer & Managers) was borne out of the patriotic intent of complementing the Federal government’s effort of integrating the youths of the nation and promoting peaceful co-existence through various established youth integrating programmes like NYSC, NIPOGA games, NYEA e.tc.

MIBP has its objectives as follows:

1.    To discover beauties with brain that will serve as role models for the youth, especially the females and serve as ambassador of peace.

2.    To enhance the unity and social interactions amongst students of all tertiary institutions in the country irrespective of their ethnical, religious or social background.

3.    To enhance the national re-orientation drive of the Federal government towards unification and discouraging ethnicity;

4.    Create a brand ambassador for corporate organizations and establishments in the country, especially organizations whose products are targeted at the large youth population of the country.

The history making Grand finale of the maiden edition of Miss Institutes Beauty Pageant which held on the 16th of September 2012 at Club Vegas, Ikeja Lagos, was graced by the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Ikuforiji Adeyemi, as the Special Guest of Honour, and Special Adviser to Lagos State Government on Education: Otunba Fatai Olukoga as Guest of Honour.

The winner of the pageantry which was purely a contest of intellectualism, high moral virtues and creativity is Miss Sylvia Ekwenibe thus she became the first title-bearer, Miss Institutes Nigeria 2012.

The PET PROJECT STAR which was designed and submitted to the management of Miss Institutes Beauty Pageant by Miss Sylvia Nkiru Ekwenibe (now Miss Institutes Nigeria 2012), served as part of the pre-requisite she met with as a contestant during the screening for the contest before her emergence as the winner of the contest. Hence, it became part of the official obligations of the crown-bearer of the pageant as her way of impacting positively on the general society.

The PET PROJECT is in line with the key responsibilities of the Queen as Miss Institutes Nigeria which includes “serving as an ambassador worthy of emulation for Nigerian youths, especially the females.”

The Project has FOUR cardinal operational dimensions namely,

1.    TrUHands: a youth empowerment conference and symposiums on leadership and vocational skills acquisition;
2.    Reboot: an environment Sustainability Sensitization initiative;

3.    Health for the Needy: an initiative aimed at addressing the health needs of some less privileged homes as well as the aged ones;
4.    Social Alert: an initiative designed to sensitize the general public on the dangers social networking and how to be security conscious.

In consideration of the magnitude of the project STAR with its high financial implication, and given the need to expedite work in order to prepare for the next edition of MIBP, we proposed to embark on the project in phases. Hence, the execution of the first phase of the project: Trust Ur Hands (TrUHands).
