I woke up today with the news of Mallam Nasir El-Rufai's blasphemy words
in which he has wittingly and/or unwittingly blasphemed against our Lord and
Saviour, Jesus Christ of Nazareth, the symbol of Christianity.
As expected, many had gone to town calling for Nasir's head, while I am cock sure that the Ayo ORITSAJEFOR's Christian Association of Nigeria will be meeting and mobilizing themselves to start onslaught and if possible pass "fatwah" on El-Rufai.
I am not a fan of Nasir, some of his utterances I must say are deplorable and unfortunate as I wish we have a strong legislation to put to check on such infamy and act that tend to breach public peace.
Having said this I condemn in strong term those attacking Nasir and pretending to defend our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ of Nazareth.
In the Gospel of John in the New Testament of the Bible, Malchus is the servant of the Jewish High Priest, Caiaphas, who participated in the arrest of Jesus. According to John, one of the disciples, the Apostle Peter, being armed with a sword, cut off the servant's ear in an attempt to prevent his Master's arrest.
The story is related in all four gospels, John 18:10–11; Matthew 26:51; Mark 14:47; and Luke 22:51, but the servant and the disciple are named only in John. Also, Luke is the only gospel that says Jesus healed the ear.
The relevant passage in the Gospel of John, KJV, reads:
Then Simon Peter having a sword drew it, and smote the high priest's servant, and cut off his right ear.
The servant's name was Malchus. Then said Jesus unto Peter, Put up thy sword into the scabbard: the cup which my Father hath given me, shall I not drink it?
This story is often used to illustrate Jesus' rejection of violence and surrender to God's will.
It should be noted that Christianity has nothing like jihad in it's dictionary, our Faith preaches and promote peace to all mankind irrespective of religion, race, creed, colour, sex, belief, etc.
I therefore pray that Mallam El-Rufai should be left with his conscience as there is no need to use Jesus Christ's name to score another political goal as well as plunging Nigeria into another security tension.
I so moved as I enjoin my brethren to consider the indelible and divinely inspired words of King David in Psalm 2
May I also advise Nasir, whom I have shared some confidence with before that he should locate a church within his vicinity, enter there and confess his sins and verily, it shall be well with him.
Thank you.

ReplyDeleteKayode ur scriptural quotes are out of context, Jesus stopped and healed d cut ear because He was fulfilling prophecy. He came to die for our sins n nothing was going to deter Him.
ReplyDeleteKayode, I think your views on this issue is not correct in as much as I am not advocating for an eye for an eye el rufai should be condemned in very strong terms for this act.

ReplyDeleteTo err is human but to forgive is divine.Nasir has realised his mistakes since he has come out on d twitter to apologise. As such he should be left with his conscience. However, people should take note of the fact that religious issues are very sensitive as such we should always guide our utterances.

ReplyDeleteEl-rufa'I action or ulterest on jesus christ is obsolutely wrong and codemnable. U can only acquire the status of a true Muslim if u don't discriminate amongs the prophets. We who insult jesus christ is no longer a true Muslim, and death is d oly sanction avail to him. No room for repent, offences of this magnititute don't accomudate repent, the offender have no right to leave on the bounties of GOD. Therefore either the sanction be enforce or relax, but he is finish, he would nt see or receipt any further favour from GOD. Failure and hell fire is his last place od aboard.
