House Of Reps Vow To Stop Dana From Flying

The House of Representatives committee on Aviation has said that it will open fresh investigation into the reason behind the recent resumption of flight by Dana airline in Nigeria.

In a statement made available to newsmen in Abuja yesterday committee chair Rep. Nkeiruka C. Onyejeocha said it was unfortunate that the Nigerian aviation authorities restored Dana operating licenses despite the fact that issues surrounding the June 3rd crash of its airliner MD 83 in Lagos which killed 156 people have not been resolved.
“The Committee on Aviation, House of Representatives notes the displeasure and concerns of Nigerians over the resumption of flights by Dana airline. We are particularly worried that all issues relating to the crash has not been resolved, including issues of compensation to victims, air safety and sundry issues. The chairman, however advises Nigerians to be patient as the House of Representatives is committed to the safety of our airspace,” the lawmaker said.
The Chairman promised that as soon as the House resumes next week, the issue will be looked into. And “the concerns, displeasure and opinions of Nigerians will not be brushed aside. She appealed for patience and restraint.”
