We ll Complete Lokoja Abuja Road On Time...Contractors Tells SURE P Members




The four contractors handling the dualisation of the Abuja-Lokoja road construction has been told to accelerate work on the sites allotted to them before end of the year, given recent payments to them.
This advice was handed down when the The subsidy Reinvestment and Empowerment Programme (SURE-P) Committee led by its Deputy Chairman,Maj Gen Maman Kontoagora Rtd visited the site with members of his committee.
The Committee asked the contractors to do everything within their capacity to progress the construction works to a level that will remove or lessen the traffic congestion yearly suffered by travelers during Christmas and New Year along that route.
The committee assured the contractors that it won’t delay on payment of certificates of jobs done as soon as such gets to it.
At a separate interaction with each of the contractors, the former Federal Minister of works reminded the contractors of the need for them to utilize the intervention funds coming from SURE-P for the purpose of the job it was disbursed. 
Also speaking during the tour of the sites,the Sub-committee convener on “Roads and Bridges”, Alhaji Kassim Bataiya told the contractors that they need to justify through their works that they have capacity to spend the SURE-P funds already programmed for their use in the 2012 budget.
He assured them of prompt future payments if they can match their work with already payment to them.
 He said what the contractors have shown on the jobs done so far on the sections they are handling was encouraging but added that SURE-P need them to add more speed to the project because the road is very critical in the country’s  road infrastructure development.
Speaking on progress work done by its company so far.a staff of Dantata & Sawoe Construction Company Roy Hungush said his company would do everything humanly possible to complete the  section 1 (Zuba-Sheda village) on or before December 2012.

On its own part a representative of O the contractor handling the section 2 (Sheda-Abaji), RCC Nigeria Ltd, Engr. Eze Dozie said “the contractors are ready to finish this project faster and earlier than the period given under the contract, which is December 2012.
Other construction companies working on the expanded road projects are Bulletin Construction Company and Gitto Contuzzioni.

  1. Some build bridges to nowhere. That's how they call it. Ghost projects. Quite disappointed about that because the government's spending the people's money for nothing.
