The Editorial team of CKN Nigeria during the weekend took a trip to the flooded Abuja-Lokoja-Okene road.The journey which ordinarily would have taken three hours had us on the long stretch of road for over twelve hours before we could cross over the river encroached which ordinarily could have be done in less than three minutes..The road was fully flooded by the River Niger..So many homes have been submerged while vehicular and other movement is now at a standstill.Thousands of passengers are stranded while canoes are being used to ferry some across.Some young men were also seen pushing vehicles across the water.Daring vehicles had their engine damaged .Security and Road Safety officials seems hopeless on what to do.The road project awarded over ten years ago is about 20% completed..Here are some of the pictures as captured by our team..Latest report has it that the road has been finally closed..Its the ONLY road that links the South West,South South and South East geo political zone of Nigeria to the Federal capital Abuja..CKN
