Nigeria is back to the days of fuel scarcity if what
CKN Nigeria reporters are sending in from across the nation is anything to go
by.
From port Harcourt to Abuja,
Lagos,Ibadan,Lokoja,Kano,Calabar,Enugu etc it’s the same story. In as much as
no one can categorically disclose the reasons for the new development, our
investigation has shown that it has to do with the continued logjam between oil
marketers, the NNPC,Federal Ministry of Finance as well as the Central Bank of
Nigeria.
We can report authoritatively that fuel importers have
for some days now refused to bring in fuels due to none payment of already
supplied imported fuels.
This also has to do with the subsidy probe going on
which has led to a lot of bottleneck in sorting out payment to oil marketers.
While all these are going on, the Nigerian once again
remains at the receiving end.
Our visit to ,most fuel stations in the country as
shown in the pictures above showed long queues of vehicles leading to loss of
man hours.
When CKN Nigeria spoke with the Ag Group General
Manager,Public Affairs of the NNPC ,Mr Pepple today, he said the corporation is
studying the situation but assured that the NNPC has enough fuel at its
disposal to service the Nation.
According to him, seventeen vessels imported by NNPC
have arrived Nigeria waiting to discharge its contents.
While all these are still going on, Nigerians may have
to wait a very long time for the situation to ease off, that we are not
envisaging in few days’ time.CKN
