That the two accused murderers of Cynthia Osokogu have
been arrested and paraded is no longer news..What is baffling everyone now is
the arraignment of two pharmacists accused by the police as accomplice to the
crime,
According to the initial report released by the Police,
two Pharmacists who they alleged to have sold the drugs used in drugging a pack
of Ribena which was given to Cynthia in order to demobilize her were arrested
around Festac Town in Lagos.
But in a swift reaction, The Pharmaceutical Society of
Nigeria ,the umbrella body regulating the practice of pharmacy in Nigeria has
faulted the police claim.
It said contrary to what the police pushed out, one of
the accused that was picked up at his working place has nothing to do with the
murder.
Infact it gave a vivid description of what happened.
According to them, the Police sent an old man to the
pharmacy in Festac Town under the pretence that he needs an urgent drug for his
ailment.
The pharmacist on duty who happened to be one of the
accused refused to sale the drugs to him since he had no doctor prescription.
But when the old man pleaded passionately for assistance which the young
pharmacist obliged him.
Immediately the old man took delivery of the drug, the
police who were already laying siege around the premises, swamped on and
arrested him.
It was the same pharmacist that the Police arraigned as
an accomplished murderer.
CKN Nigeria investigation has proved the above
narrative to be true.
The pharmacist in question is no other person than 25 years
intern and graduate of Igbinedion University,Okada Mr Nonso Maduakor.
Nonso the first son of a family, second child in a
family of six lives in Satellite town, Lagos State with his mother. His father
is late .He hails from Idemilli North LGA in Anambra State.
He just graduated this year and was doing his intern
(IT) Osfam Pharmacy in Festac Town ,Lagos when he was arrested by the police
for being an accomplish in the murder of the daughter of a retired army
General, whose daughter was lured and killed in a Lagos hotel.
According to our investigation, Cynthia was killed
between the 21st and 22nd of July 2012 while Nonso was
arrested on 20th August 2012, one clear month after the incident.
The question on everyone’s lips is how was Nonso roped
into the case..Our investigation showed that Nonso as we righly pointed in our
intro was arrested for selling a drug without doctor’s prescription by the
police at OSFAM Pharmacy Festac town where the killers of Cynthia said they
bought the drugs they sued in drugging her.
When Nonso was brought before the two accused murderers,
they informed the police he was not part of them neither he was he the person
that sold the drugs to them.
The police on realizing they have picked a wrong person
now resorted to extortion. Nonso’s family were asked to cough out N500,000 to
secure his bail and release .
The family couldn’t raise this. The IPO in charge of
the case (name withheld ) became the tormentor in chief of the accused, giving
the family a deadline to pay the ransom else Nonso will be charged with the
other accused for murder, that was on the 20th of August 2012.They
later reduced the money to N300,000 which the poor family stil couldn’t also
meet.
When the money could not be raised, the accused with
the other suspects were transferred from Festac town Police station to Panti
under the instruction of the Lagos State Commissioner of Police.(who obviously
was not aware of the demands of his boys).
According to a close source in his family, they were
only able to raise N20,000 which they handed over to the police and were asked
to come the next day for his release.
On getting to Panti the next day, news filtered in that
rather than release Nonso, some people sighted Nonso at a magistrate court where
they were being arraigned and alerted his family.
On getting to the place, true to type,Nonso and the
other accused people were already being paraded before news men for murder,
within seconds their pictures were splashed all
A young man whose only mistake could be attributed to
professional /ethic malpractice has been roped into a murder case he knew next
to nothing about.
The questions being asked are:
1.If Nonso’s family had paid the N300,000 bribe money
would he had been arraigned?.
2. Did the two accused murderers identify Nonso as an
accomplice?
3. Why is the Police not making efforts to arrest the
real culprit?.
4. Why did the Police decide to engage in arm twist
dealings in order to nail a presumed innocent boy.
