Contrary to the initial report making the rounds that
50 people were today killed by a suicide bomb,he Bauchi State Command of the
Nigerian Police has confirmed that two people were killed when a suicide bomber
blew himself up at the premises of St. John Catholic Church on Sunday morning.
The Bauchi police spokesman, Hassan Mohammed, also said
46 others received various degrees of injury from the attack. The injured have
been taken to the hospital for treatment.
Among those injured in the blast are two policemen
deployed to protect the church.

stopped the bomber from reaching his intended targets, worshippers observing
the Sunday church service. As a result, he detonated the explosives he carried
at the parking lot in the premises.

prevented by the measures put in place. Instead he detonated his explosives in
the parking lot killing one person, and among the injured victims taken to the
