Amidst tight security in Kano, the Kano State Police
Command yesterday warned against bringing any container or vehicles to the
vicinity of the Eid ground in a bid to ensure hitch free Sallah celebration.
Security personnel were drafted to various parts of the
metropolis in a bid to beef up security and ensure a hitch free Sallah
celebration.
A statement from the deputy Police Public Relations
Officer, ASP Magaji Musa Majiya, said security tips were also Released to
assist the general public on conducting a successful Eid-el-fitr celebration.
Majiya said the Command in conjunction with other
Security agencies in the State advised that all motor vehicles and motorcycles
are to be parked 200 meters away from the Eid ground while worshippers should
come to the Eid- ground with only prayer mats.
He said, the command had also advised parents and
guardians to avoid giving their under-aged and unlicensed children and persons
vehicles for driving and also ensure that their under-aged children are
accompanied with elderly persons during Sallah festivals to avoid cases of
missing children.
The command also advised the public to avoid bringing
into the Eid ground bags, parcels, packages or any kind of container and report
suspicious movement within the Eid ground or its vicinity.
While advising the public to continue cooperating with
the police and other security agencies during Sallah festival and always, the
Command wished the people a happy Eid-el-fitr and hitch free Sallah
Celebrations.
Similarly, motorists must obey traffic rules to ensure
accident free festivities by avoiding reckless and dangerous driving or car
racing after announcement of the sighting of Shawwal moon, the statement added.
Our correspondent reports that patrol vehicles of
members of the Joint Task Force [JTF] were seen patrolling major streets
in the metropolis in a bid to ensure peaceful celebration during the Sallah
festivities.
