    • David Christopher No similarity between Abacha and Idi Amin. Idi Amin was an an unadulterated buffoon. Abacha was a serious minded leader who did more for Nigeria's economy than all those that succeeded him put together. Idi Amin destroyed Uganda's thriving economy. Abacha, on the other hand, was the one who after every preceding leader had pussyfooted in the mire of embezzlement over establishing an LNG factory to tap into our abundant gas reserves (Nigeria is more a gas province than an oil one) actually commenced the construction of the Bonny LNG plant. To his credit, that plant is now the biggest LNG plant in the world. That was the first major revenue earning diversification ever implemented since we stupidly came to rely almost solely on crude oil sales revenue. The revenue accruing to Govt from Bonny LNG exceeds US$10billion per annum. It is also Abacha that introduced VAT, another revenue booster which OBJ wanted to hike to 15%. On state sponsored murders, do you realise that those alleged to have been killed by Abacha's henchmen are an in finitestimal figure when compared to those we know were murdered on OBJ's orders? Remember Odi and Zaki Biam? Do you even remember Umuechem under IBB?, or Asaba under Gowon perpetrated by Murtala Mohammed and his troops. Abacha was no saint, but he was no Idi Amin.

    • Chibueze Charles Ihejirika Point of correction guys. Idi Amin connot be placed on the same comparism phrame with the 3 thieves IBB, Abacha and Obj. He was far better in character and morals though he was a bit too radical in his Pan African policies. Most of you commenting on this man only know him through the concorted movie Rise and 'Fall of Idi Amin' but unfortunately for most of you you have just diegested the venom prepared for you by the propaganda machine of the western nations whose clandestine economic interests he actually tried to dismantle in favour of his countrymen.

    • Eze Onyemaechi Idi Amin Dada was brutish and nasty, the irony is that he was focused same time-Idi Amin was overtly ambitious, this desire caused him to seek and crush opposition in a manner unheard off before,Amin hated the west for their subtle oppression and plundering of Africa...the late Ugandan President leadership style made him a laughing stock(Caricature),he was also described as a savage.

    • Alake Charles ‎@ Chibueze, thank u jare, " d Movie Rise and Fall of Idi Amin" was produced just to blackmail him. it will take Africa another century b4 dey fully Understand Western Colonialism, Neocolonialism & Imperialism system. In short Western countries hate Africa strong leaders, like Idi Amin, Mugabe, Gaddafi bcos those guys are not ready to dance to their tune, those that condemn Idi Amin should read his book, LION OF AFRICA by Manzoor Moghal, IDI AMIN & EMPEROR BOKASSA by Diane Law, MOAMMAR GADHAFI & IDI AMIN: LESSONS FROM HISTORY by Margaret Akuila, moreso go on YouTube and watch Idi Amin documentary.

    • Michael Nwabueze When People say Pan Africanism, I ask myself if we realize the number of ugandan that suffered irreparable losses from his excesses..the deaths, the rapes, the dehumanizing torture to her citizens, the arson committed on ugandans.. there are so many crimes he perpetrated on ugandans in the course of africanism which I see as negative africanism.. Please..

    • Tope Fasua people regurgitate what they see on tv, what they are programmed to believe. that is why we should read. when we read we get better perspectives. idi amin was a hero. a very intelligent man for his time, who played the historical differences between the english and scottish, and sought to free his people. the indians were - are still - being positioned by the departing brits, to continue the oppression in africa. it was a way of compensating the indians for what the brits did to them during the days of the east india company, and it was an attempt to finally affirm that the black man was the lowest in the rung of humanity. that is what idia amin fought against. the replacement of english oppression with indian oppression. he may have been crazy in his ways, but hey, who is perfect?

    • Tope Fasua ‎@all. right or wrong, i think africa should rewrite its history. they say IT IS THE PREROGATIVE OF THE VICTOR, TO REWRITE HISTORY... therefore, i believe little of what has been written about us and our ancestors, by our conquerors. some are true though, but most are outright lies designed to make them look like the saviours. while we have time on our hands, we should try and tell our own stories, ourselves. i sign out...
