Mixed Feelings As Youth Corpers Passed Out Today

Happiness and uncertainty enveloped the various camps of the National Youth Service Corp today as the 2011/2012 batch of the scheme passed out from the Thirty Six States of the Federation and Federal capital territory Abuja. The corpers who completed their mandatory one year service were seen moving their belongings after the passing out parades en-route their various destinations..While some of them were happy to have completed the service, there were lot of mixed feelings among others on their next move. When CKN Nigeria spoke with some of them at the Iyana Ipaja camp in Lagos and Yikpata camp in Kwara State, the corpers said the high level of unemployment in the country is their main source of worry..They urged the government to do something urgently to assist them in their employment drive..It goes without saying that over 90% of them were not retained at their various places of primary assignment and will therefore join the ever growing unemployment market in the country..Every graduate of Nigerian Universities,Polytechnics and some Colleges of Education were expected to take part in the mandatory one year service..CKN
