Nigerian rising
star and consummate broadcaster Fidelis Mbah has been promoted and moved to BBC
World Service in London..According to an exclusive report obtained by us this
morning, Fidelis who joined the BBC in
February, 2007 and reported from across Nigeria is taking up a new post as
broadcast journalist/Producer at the BBC World Service in London.The former
staff of Silverbird (Rhythm FM) sees his new posting as a new challenge. He Joined Rhythm 93.7FM
in Lagos in 1998. Also worked in Rhythm 94.7FM Abuja where he rose through the
ranks to become Head of News, Abuja office. He left in 2004 for a US-based NGO
in Abuja where he held the post of Communications Specialist. Before joining
the BBC.He also worked with the United States Open Source Centre as a media
researcher in the Niger Delta.
Fidelis whom while
reporting for BBC in Nigeria had brushes with the authorities once in a while,
the memorable one was when he was locked up by the agents of former governor of
Oyo State Christopher Akala during the demolition of the statute of the late
sage,Obafemi Awolowo..He is happily married with a son .CKN
