Exclusive:Be Warned..Shoprite Nigeria Sells Adulterated And Expired Products

we got this from some concerned customers of Shoprite, the biggest chain shop in Niger.."DEATH ON SHOPRITE AISLE Most Lagosians and non do visit the Palms, Adebola mall, and Ikeja mall where SHOPRITE is situated of late I noticed that the management & staff of the superstore have been silently killing Nigerians by tactfully reducing prices of already expired products! This they dare NOT do in South Africa or any southern African country where they operate! But they get away with it here in Nigeria due to conniving with their Nigerian management & staffs. A family is mourning the death of their son who died from food poisoning from eating an expired cheese bought from SHOPRITE ! Dear friends do check the expiry dates of whatever you buy from SHOPRITE & be weary of their specials on Beefs, Dairy products,& chocolates! Presently they have products that will expire in a weeks time on their aisle, which should never be! Please broadcast till it gets to Consumer protection Council& other Agencies. You might be saving lives of peoples loved ones!"..Abimbola Kudehinbu

My sons have developed a culture of checking sellbydate before they eat anything - and even foods that can be frozen for 3months, they query me as to why and I do give them reasons convincingly lest they wldnt eat it, period!

    • Peju Aicha There are 2 ways to this. Shoprite can cargo their stuff then it become a richman shopping centre or the second option by boat that will cost less but most stuff would have expired or almost by the time they reach their destination. FYI: Expiry date doesn't mean you can't consume certain product. The manufacturer are just informing us when is the best time to consume their product. Apart from fresh diary etc

    • Olayinka Yusuf That is what happen in a country like Nigeria where there is not regulation. Nothing is been regulated. Did we still have NAFDAC? I believe nafdac is a Nigeria govt. agency tagged with that responsibility, but until somebody die of food poisoning from shoprite, they will not know to go to work. Nigeria is not a country meeeeennnn. i rest my case

    • Basil Chiji Okafor I bet some two-bit nigger arses living abroad, who are in the habit of constantly bashing their own country from wherever they are, won't see this. They make so much noise as if it's only in Nigeria that there are corrupt people. I'm waiting for one fine morning when a true leader would emerge in this country, who would really have the balls to deal with this corruption issue from its roots.

    • Joseph Mayor ‎@okafor, naija corruption no get comparisom.

    • Olayinka Yusuf Basil, trust me we are not bashing Nigeria, we love Nigeria with all out heart and believe it or not the same way we talked about Naija, we talk about the US also, is just that there are more to talk about Naija. So Basil, we will be an ingrate to talk down about out beloeved country, it's just, when nothing works in a country we will be left with no choice but to talk about that way
