Apesar de terem enviado equipes de resgate, autoridades nigerianas disseram não acreditar que algum passageiro tenha sobrevivido à queda de um avião em Lagos, maior cidade do país. O acidente aconteceu hoje (3) no bairro de Iju, densamente povoado, ao norte do aeroporto de Lagos.
Com cerca de 150 pessoas a bordo, o avião de passageiros se chocou com um edifício antes de explodir, dizem testemunhas. O avião, da Dana Air, voava da capital nigeriana, Abuja, para Lagos. Jornalistas no local afirmam que parte do avião podia ser vista no prédio de apartamentos e vários corpos estavam visíveis entre os destroços.

Uma investigação para apurar as causas do acidente foi iniciada. O clima no momento do acidente estava encoberto, mas não ocorria um dos fortes temporais que costumam atingir a cidade.
Em maio, um avião da mesma empresa apresentou um problema técnico e foi forçado a fazer um pouso de emergência em Lagos.

Como outros países africanos, a Nigéria tem um histórico de acidentes aéreos, embora o número de desastres tenha diminuído desde 2005. A Dana Air opera aviões Boeing MD-83 para cidades da Nigéria. As informações são da Agência Brasil.

Although they sent rescue teams, Nigerian officials said they did not believe that any passenger has survived a plane crash in Lagos, the country's largest city . The accident happened today (3) in the neighborhood of IJU, densely populated north of the airport in Lagos.
With about 150 people on board, the passenger plane crashed into a building before exploding, witnesses said. The plane, Dana Air, was flying the Nigerian capital, Abuja to Lagos. Journalists at the site say that part of the airplane could be seen in the apartment building and several bodies were visible among the wreckage.

An investigation into the causes of the accident has begun. The climate at the time of the accident was overcast, but did not occur one of strong storms that usually hit the city.
In May, an aircraft of the same company had a technical problem and was forced to make an emergency landing in Lagos.
