The Musical Copyright Society Of Nigeria (MCSN) executes an Anton Peller injunction against TV Continental over infringement of copyright of its musicians.
For months MCSN and their officers have been trying to get TVC to pay royalties to its artistes that runs into hundreds of millions without success. Finally in frustration over the arrogance of TVC, MCSN went to court and got an Anton Peller Order to enter and seize all the equipments being used to broadcast music without permission and without paying royalties.
Now, armed with court bailiffs and armed policement, they have just executed the order and TVC is off air until this matter is settled...Although an unconfirmed report reaching CKN Nigeria said,the TVC/RC have just made some payment to MCSN and the station is back on air..CKN
I hope this story is not true. But if it is, I guess TVC/RC have fallen the antics of fraudsters parading themselves as a CMO. Can TVC/RC say they do not their rights or is it a case of ignorance that they allowed themselves to be rail-roaded into paying money to an illegal body who go about claiming that they own rights which don't belong to them. They are not even recognised by the Nigerian law to operate as a CMO. So why did TVC/RC give money to an organisation that does not pay or account to their so-called members? Or have they become father Chrismas? They should be getting ready to pay again, because the real and legal CMO Coson will soon visit.
