A partnership between YAHSAT and Coollink has
announced the commercial take off of a satellite broadband service, YahClick
that it said will change the way Nigerians access the internet. At a Resellers’
forum in Abuja on Wednesday, officials of both companies said the product will
simplify acquisition of internet in terms of ease of access, cost of
acquisition and affordable subscription fees relative to the speeds delivered.Chief
Technical Officer of Coolink, Nadim Chidiac explained that “The cost of acquisition
can be factored into the cost of monthly subscription that is spread over a
period of time” noting that subscribers need to make bulk payment to acquire
connection hard wares.”The service plans offered by YahClick for home users
cover email, web browsing, Skype, Facebook, Twitter and other social media
platforms delivered at 256/1Mbps speed with 200Mb daily data usage amounting to
around 6Gigabytes monthly available at N7, 500 monthly. Large businesses and
corporate organisations can transmit hundreds of gigabytes daily with download
speeds of up to 15Mbps and upload speeds of up to 3Mbps.Regional Director
Africa for YAHSAT, Kevin Viret said the company now has two operational
satellites in space with one covering the Middle East and parts of Asia while
the second one launched in April this year covers Africa.“The launch of the
satellites followed about four years of preparations which entailed setting up,
hiring the technical partners and training the team which built the satellites.“YahClick
is the primary brand and product of YAHSAT, it is the internet service
provisioning arm. This is what we are presenting to you today in conjuntion
with our Nigerian partner, Coollink.” Viret said.Chief Operating Officer of
Coollink, Shahin Nouro said the partnership between YAHSAT and Coolink is one
of the few in Africa and the only one in Nigeria. He disclosed that “Upon
commercial entry into the market, businesses that had until now battled to have
quality and consistent internet services can now add affordability to their
list of possibilities. Since no cost is going to be incurred in deploying
infrastructure, YahClick will be at a better advantage in comparison with fiber
optic broadband in terms of deployment.” He said.According to him, Coollink is
now seeking local partnerships of re-sellers across Nigeria to benefit from
attractive offers to meet their profitability and aspirations.YacClick from
