Bollywood starlet Meenakshi
Thapar was killed and
beheaded in an extortion plot led by two fellow actors, Amit Jaiswal and
lover Preeti
Surin.Thapar had starred in an Indian
horror film, 404, last year with the two actors. They decided to kidnap her after
she boasted one too many times about her family's status and wealth back in the
Himalayan foothills of India. The two actors invited her on a trip to Gorakhpur
to visit some Buddhist temples, then held her hostage for 1,500,000 Rupees
(about $29,000) Jaiswal and Surin blackmailed her Nepali parents to pay up, or they would make Thapar star in
pornographic films. Her mother paid them 60,000 Rupees up front, but she was
killed soon afterwards. Thapar was strangled, beheaded, and dumped in two different sites by her
kidnappers. Her head was thrown our a bus window and her torso dumped in a
water tank.Thapar's killers were soon caught, after fleeing to Mumbai. They were
found with her mobile phone, and they confessed to the murder. A detective
leading the investigation explained,"We are still investigating the case
and both the accused along with a police team are visiting the crime spot. We
have yet to recover the body. They wanted to extort money from her family. They
have confessed to the crime. She was strangulated in a hotel and her body was
hacked into pieces and thrown in a water tank. They threw her head from a
moving bus while traveling back to Mumbai."
