First World Pregnant Man To Divorce Wife



Thomas Beatie, who made headlines in 2008 when he became the world's first known man to give birth, has split from his wife of nine years. Beatie announced the split from his wife, Nancy, during a taping of an episode of "The Doctors", which is set to air on May 7, People reported."Like all marriages, we have our ups and downs, and we’re going through a rough patch right now," the 38-year-old said. "At the moment, we’re separated."Beatie also revealed that he had undergone the last of his female-to-male sex reassignment surgeries. "Nancy hasn’t seen the new me yet," said Beatie, who began his sex-reassignment surgeries in 2002.Since giving birth to the couple's first child, Susan, in July 2008, Beatie has given birth to two sons, Austin and Jensen. In April 2008, while pregnant with the couple's first child, Beatie opened up about his marriage to Nancy in The Advocate. "To our neighbors, my wife, Nancy, and I don’t appear in the least unusual. To those in the quiet Oregon community where we live, we are viewed just as we are -- a happy couple deeply in love. Our desire to work hard, buy our first home, and start a family was nothing out of the ordinary. That is, until we decided that I would carry our child," he said.
