Pregnant Woman Dies After Lagos Hospital Rejected Her Over Inability To Pay N500k Deposit ( Video)

A heartbreaking video has surfaced online showing a pregnant woman in labor who tragically lost her life after allegedly being denied medical treatment because she couldn’t afford a ₦500,000 deposit.

It was  gathered that her husband, Akinbobola Folajimi, first shared the devastating ordeal on Instagram in February, but the video has now gone viral on X (formerly Twitter), sparking massive outrage. In the emotional footage, the heavily pregnant woman is seen inside a car, weak and barely responsive, while her husband desperately pleads with her to stay strong.“My goodness, Kemi, look at me. Stay strong, look at me.

Think about your kids, please. You need to be very strong for me,” he begged, his voice filled with agony.According to Folajimi, they initially sought help at a private hospital ( Al Salam Clinic ) , but the medical staff refused to treat his wife unless they deposited ₦500,000 upfront. Despite his desperate pleas for emergency care while he sourced the funds, they were turned away without assistance.

Left with no choice, he rushed her to a general hospital in Epe as advised, but tragically, she did not survive the journey.Expressing his grief and frustration, he wrote:“Private hospitals in Nigeria. The doctor told me to deposit ₦500k, and I begged him to start doing whatever was needed to save my wife while I ran around for the money, but they drove us out like they didn’t care.”

“They blindly rejected us and asked me to take her to a general hospital in Epe, even though the doctor knew the distance from Lakwe to Epe was too far for her condition. Before we got there, she was gone.”“How???? Such a wicked institution. Well, only Jah knows and sees all. This is just too much for me.”

The viral video has triggered massive reactions, with Nigerians expressing anger over the state of the healthcare system, where profit often comes before human life.

Many have flooded the comment section, demanding justice and accountability for the loss of an innocent life.Public Watch News continues to monitor reactions and will provide updates as they unfold.
