A peaceful community in Orun Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State was thrown into shock after 38-year-old Mrs. Victoria Omoh was brutally murdered by her husband, Victor Okoh.
In a video that was shared by NTA, The tragic incident happened in the early hours of the morning, between 3:00 am and 5:00 am.
Neighbors were awakened by Victoria’s loud cries for help. Rushing to the scene, they saw Victor attacking his wife with a machete. Efforts to stop him failed, as he threatened anyone who came close.
One neighbor who witnessed the attack said, "I ran down when I heard the noise and saw Victor still using the machete on his wife. They never had any quarrel before."
Victoria’s widowed mother was devastated by the news. At first, she thought it was just a minor disagreement between the couple. “I thought it was an ordinary fight. But before my brother arrived, he told me my daughter had been butchered by her husband.”
She described her daughter as a calm and peaceful woman. “Since they got married, I never received any reports of problems between them. Everyone in the family, the community, and even the church can testify to her good character.”
The police confirmed Victor’s arrest while he was trying to escape. He claimed he attacked his wife because he suspected her of infidelity.
Residents and family members of the victim are demanding justice for her.
