The former Lagos State Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil
Defense Corps, NSCDC, Mr. Shem Obafaye, who postulated the ”My Oga at the top”
mantra has finally resumed duty as Oyo State Commandant of the security agency.
Obafaye
was replaced by Mr. Adesuyi Clement from Oyo State Command after his interview
on Channels Television live programme ‘Sunrise’ about two months ago. Since
then, no specific assignment was given to him until last week when he was asked
to replace Adesuyi officially.

In a telephone conversation with Vanguard, Obafaye promised to
discharge his duties with every sense of responsibility. ”I am determined to
serve in Oyo State and I know God will help me,” he said.
Obafaye’s redeployment may not be unconnected with the interview
he granted to Channels Television.
His ordeal started when he was asked during the interview the
NSCDC website and he said:
“Hmmm, the website is, excuse me, my Oga at the top knows the
website”. He again, cleared his throat and said: “My Oga at the top is working
on the website and I don’t have them”.
When the presenters insisted that he give a functioning website
address of the para-military outfit, he dropped the bombshell: “ww.nscdc that’s
all”.
Immediately, the interview went viral and has become so popular
to the extent that t-shirts with “my oga at the top” insignia were produced and
sold like hot cake across the country. DJs and musicians also did what they
called ‘a remix’ of the phrase.
Meanwhile, this latest development has put to an end,
speculations that Mr Obafaye had been sacked on the orders of the Minister of
Interior, who supervises the NSCDC. But authorities of NSCDC had continuously
denied taking any disciplinary action against the embattled commandant.

Oh I guess u dnt even know u do make mistakes and dts because no one crucifies u,we just see them as what they are;mistakes.Pls next time dnt join in blowing someone else's own out of proportion.
ReplyDeleteU guys really don't get it the man is not fit for that post and there are many others like him, so why should he continur when he's not qualified to be there and without a full stress of his mistake or rather his daily routine because we just found out because he was interviewed nothing will be done about it. This is just to show the level of how this country is corrupt. How can someone of his position do such a thing during interview guys wake up its embarrasing
DeleteMillions of pple makes mistake everyday.Y was his own the talk of the town just bcos he forgot to put .com or .org etc.If only he was crufied, then our 1st lady too shuld excuse us frm d Aso rock villa abeg.
ReplyDeleteImpossible how would a whole civil Defence Commandant make such a mistake indeed you are really disappointed,Its truth nobody above mistake but once its your Job so its your obligation not to take it as mere....So ridiculous
DeleteCKN ur oga can be @ d valley all I no be say dat man try for lagosians
ReplyDeletePeople listen, we know u think its a mistake but its not, ask him dat again and he will still not get it. He doesn't just know it but he suppose to caus of his cadre in NSCDC. If a recruit do this its padonable but he is very far from being new to the job and if u ask him he must hv done dat job for a very long time. And guys listen do not fight the media caus the are the only truth left in this country caus if the had not strerssed it like this nothing would have been done about it.
ReplyDeleteWell he tried shaaa. But what if they ask him d full meaning of NSCDC what could be the answer?
ReplyDeletePls let the man be @ the top as usual is still good to go nobody is above mistake is just trying to be security concious.
ReplyDeleteIts not a mistake but ignorant. He never knew their web-site $ he never care to know $ he never expected to be asked the question.Their Website is a simple and easy question to ans but he did not b/c he don't Jst knw it $ its very bad.Simple.Even in his sentence,'My Oga @de Top'is it a Better English or better way to refer his Boss in the office.IGNORANT,a bad attitude, let's Deviate from it b/c it doesn't pay.
ReplyDeleteeven mr president can do such nobody is above mistake.
ReplyDeleteThe spate of the problem of we Nigerians is majorly because we attach sentiment to all we do, can guys hear yourselves? We should allow him, he is a commandant of a state if you guys get my drift. This man is not qualify and it will be better if they just put him some where other that the exalted post of a commandant. I am appalled at the way we Nigerians reason atimes... If we let the best man for the job always take the front role we won't be in these mess as a country.
ReplyDeleteWhen people make such comments as "nobody is above mistake"and feel the man "should be left alone"as though people are deliberately and for no reason trying to make his life miserable, it makes me wonder why we complain about mediocrity in our systems - educational, medical, governmental etc. A man who should know better cannot answer a simple question like what is your organisation's website. It is like saying I have lived in a place for no less than 10 years and I do not know my address? Really? Let's stop being so stupidly sentimental about mediocrity.
ReplyDeleteMy oga at d top! Correct man
